For now we are planning to stay in LA, since Hubby's project lasts until late 2008, but we were thinking of applying to cities with both a tech industry and strong public library systems. So far I've come up with San Francisco, Seattle, and Austin. Anyone else have any suggestions?

No suggestions off the top of my head, just wanted to say that I've heard Austin is *really* competitive wrt library jobs because of UT Austin and two other library schools in Texas as well. If I hear of/think of any other places that sound like they have that combo I'll let you know.
I know NY is not usually associated with a tech industry, but they have pretty much everything. If you want to live in a city, you can't get much better than New York.
